To celebrate a recent apparel collection designed around Hawaii volcanoes and the ecosystems they create, the company Parks Project donated $10,000 to the Hawaii Pacific Parks Association to support its mission: With the spirit of aloha, to inspire the discovery and stewardship of the natural and cultural heritage of Pacific island parks.
HPPA will donate these funds directly to its partner, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, so the park can meet future volcanic eruption response needs, and for ongoing support of the endangered Hawaiian petrel.
Surveys for the petrel require that park staff work in remote, high-elevation Mauna Loa nesting areas.
“This generous donation from Parks Project goes hand in hand with our longtime support of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park’s wildlife and other programs over the decades,” HPPA Executive Directer Mel Boehl said in a press release.
